Architectural Umami is a service and product all rolled into one. It is the brainchild of Blitz, the design firm known for creating great workplaces all over the world. Over the past several years, we’ve had several clients move into perfectly fine, second-generation workplaces that lacked personality, energy, and inspiration. These spaces weren’t in need of a full renovation but needed the Blitz touch. Thus, Umami was born.
Umami is a sense of deliciousness. Together with sweet, sour, salty, and bitter, umami serves as the foundation upon which deliciousness is built. Architectural Umami is that rich layer of a project that makes a space feel good, unique to the owner, and inspired. It’s the collection of furniture, decor, finishes and graphics that lend a space its humanity, humor, and joy. In short, it’s deliciousness.

Architectural Umami is for anyone who’s workspace needs a bit of zhuzh to liven it up and make it reflect the personality and brand of the people working there. It’s intended as a day-two service specifically for second-generation workplace spaces of any size in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Since this service doesn’t involve tearing down walls it’s a great budget and schedule-friendly alternative to a full tenant improvement project.
